That's what I say to my Mom every December 7th when I call her. Her 16th birthday party was ruined when the Japanese attacked. The news arrived around midday and put everybody into a panic and her mom thought it best to cancel.
My mother has never forgiven Japan for having the audacity to attack on her birthday. She has never owned a Japanese car or a Sony stereo or anything else that she knows to have been made in Japan. Think about that, in today's world ... how do you tiptoe around it? Now, we don't tell her that such and such a brand of TV is made by Mitsubishi even though it has an American or British name. Once a salesman made that mistake, and lost a big TV sale.
By the way: she has no problem with Japanese people. It's "Japan" as an abstract idea, that she loathes.
Happy Pearl Harbour Day, Mom.
What a coincidence Nils - it is my mother's birhday too. 75 this weekend
